I am a seasoned Exemplary Performance Consultant/Practitioner (http://www.exemplaryperformance.com/) with thirty-two years of experience dedicated to helping clients design performance solutions that enable average performers to excel. I am a husband and a father of two wonderful children and five wonderful stepchildren. I am a training developer, instructor, public speaker and personal business coach/mentor. My reputation has endured as my defining body of work has grown. I work on issues that are important to me and two-hundred plus transformational change performance improvement projects have followed. I am a motivated and talented performance improvement professional who is committed to helping clients achieve their goals by helping them improve their individual, team and organizational performance. I am a nurturing person who seeks joy, peace and meaning in my life. I am free spirited, adventurous and creative. I continue to pass along lessons learned because that gives me joy. What is the point of being here, unless you share it and pass it on, and help others along the way?  I try very hard to live an authentic life that feels true to me, which means living my life in service to others.

My purpose is to make a significant positive difference in the lives of others around the world by helping individuals and organizations prosper and achieve their business goals. I work side-by-side with clients and lend a hand to create improvement programs designed to strengthen professional well-being, work systems and performance results.

I am a certified instructor of Joe Harless' ABCD toolset and have certifications in Front-End Analysis, Job Aids Workshop, and Expert OJT, better known as On-the-Job-Training. I am a long standing member of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), www.ispi.org and the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD, www.astd.org

There are many rich and well-respected approaches to improving human performance. I have sought out the most effective and efficient performance system available that considers training as one of many components that influence exemplary performance.  Harmony in performance means not simply choosing training as a single solution but to ensure you have the right attitude, awareness, motivation, support, and the right relationship between yourself and your people.  An effective Human Performance system addresses the logical, emotional, and physical needs of the organization.

  1. Add Value. Strive to conduct myself, and manage my projects and their results, in ways that add value for my clients, their customers and the global environment. 
  2. Validated Practice. Make use of and promote validated practices in performance technology strategies and standards. 
  3. Collaboration. Work collaboratively with clients and users, functioning as a trustworthy strategic partner. 
  4. Continuous Improvement. Continually improve my proficiency in the field of performance technology. 
  5. Integrity. Be honest and truthful in my representations to clients, colleagues and others with whom I come in contact while practicing performance technology.
  6. Uphold Confidentiality. Maintain client confidentiality, not allowing for any conflict of interest that would benefit myself or others.

Standards

  1. Focus on results and help clients focus on results. 
  2. Look at situations systemically taking into consideration the larger context including competing pressures, resource constraints, and anticipated change. 
  3. Add value in how I do the work and through the work itself. 
  4. Utilize partnerships or collaborate with clients and other experts as required.
  5. Be systematic in all aspects of the process including:
    • The assessment of the need or opportunity. 
    • The analysis of the work and workplace to identify the cause or factors that limit performance.
    • The design of the solution or specification of the requirements of the solution.
    • The development of all or some of the solution and its elements.
    • The implementation of the solution. 
    • The evaluation of the process and the results.


We are not here for long, all of us should die knowing something.
 

I continue to be committed to learning as much as I can, and then sharing as much of my learning as I can. I expect everyone who participates in coaching services and the workshops that I facilitate to be transformed by the experience.
